Local Rules & Policies

The following are the rules by which the Lake Sammamish Baseball Association is run by. From time to time they are updated. Always, check to see if you have the latest set of information.

Baseball Operations Policy

Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to have written standards for the operations of the Lake Sammamish Baseball Association - Junior Division (Pony) and Senior Division (Babe Ruth).

League Age
 
League age is player's age on June 30th each year as defined by Pony, Inc. & Babe Ruth, Inc.  

Levels of Play
Lake Sammamish Baseball Association
will field teams at the following levels of play  

  • Junior Division - Pony
    • For players league age 13 and 14
    • 80 foot bases and 54 foot pitchers mound
  • Junior Division - Colt
    • For players age 15 and 16
    • 90 foot bases and 60 foot pitchers mound
  • Senior Division - Babe Ruth
    • For players age 16
    • 90 foot bases and 60 foot pitchers mound
  • Senior Division - Babe Ruth
    • For players age 17 thru 18
    • 90 foot bases and 60 foot pitchers mound

 

Registration 
 
Pre-formed teams (P13 & P14)

  • Managers of pre-formed teams will provide registration forms and fees for all the players on their roster to the Lake Sammamish Baseball Association.

Individual players (Cascade Division)

  • Players who have not been rostered on a pre-formed neighborhood team shall go into the players pool
  • Teams will be formed from the players pool

Scholarship Funds

  • Registration scholarships and funds for individual baseball equipment are available through the Lake Sammamish Baseball Association by special request.


Teams

Pony Player pool formed teams

  • All players who register to play and are not part of a pre-formed team will be placed into the players pool
  • League will hold skill evaluation of pool players
  • League will form balanced teams from the pool players based on skill evaluations
  • Teams will be formed by the consensus of skill evaluators and team managers
  • Consideration for parent requests to play with friends will be considered as long as balanced teams may still be formed

Pony Pre-formed teams

  • Teams with all 13 year old players
  • Will have option to play at Cascade or Olympic level of Pony league
  • Will be subject to special scheduling procedures to facilitate balanced play, could include some Olympic teams.  Not all Cascade teams may be played
  • Teams with more then six 14 year olds must play at the Olympic level of Pony league
  • Teams of 15/16 year olds will play in the Colt league

Babe Ruth Player pool formed teams

  • All players who register to play and are not part of a pre-formed team will be placed into the players pool
  •  
  • Teams will be formed from the number of players signed up.

Uniforms 
Uniforms will be provided for pool Player Cascade Rainer teams only, to include;

  • Jersey
  • Hat
  • Belt

league will provide the following equipment to each team

  • Equipment bag
  • 6 - Batting helmets
  • 2 - full set catchers gear
  • Practice baseballs
  • Game baseballs


Practices
 
Practices begin on approximately March 1st for the Pony teams.  The Senior Babe Ruth teams will start practices near the end of the High School Baseball Season. Practices are held on fields within the boundaries of the league. The league scheduler will provide each team with the same number of practices

  • Goal is to schedule at least two practices per week per Pony team during month of March
  • Practices in addition to those scheduled by LSBA will be at the expense of each team (i.e. indoor practices)

In addition to playing the other LSBA teams at their level of play game will be scheduled with other Eastside Pony leagues Number of regular season games (This is the goal, actual number may vary)

 Pony Cascade - 25 games

  • Pony Olympic - 30 games
  • Colt - 35 games

Rainouts

  • Rainout for regular season game will only be made up if there is field availability
  • Is the responsibility of the home team manager to try and arrange a make up game

Extra games

  • The league will allow each team to schedule a few extra games if there is field availability
  • Umpires will be provided by league if funds are available

Tournaments

  • There are traditionally Pony/Colt tournaments available Memorial Day weekend.
  • Teams that play in any extra tournaments are required to pay tournament entry fees

End-of-season Tournament/Playoffs

  • Lake Sammamish Baseball Association will host end-of-season tournaments for each level of play.
  • Official Scorekeeper will be home team book.
  • Home team determined by coin flip
  • Number of games
  • 4 or more teams - double elimination tournament
  • Bracket will be determined by random draw
  • 3 teams - 2 games each team (A vs B, A vs C, etc.)
  • Top two teams play for championship
  • Tie breakers
  • Least runs allows per inning on defense
  • Most base runners
  • Most runs scored per inning on offense
  • Coin flip
  • 2 teams - best of three series
  • Tie Games
    • In the event of tie games that can not be completed because of time limit, rain, or darkness the following tie breakers will be applied to determine a winner
    • Back up to a pervious complete inning where one team is ahead
    • In the event that each inning results in a tie next tie breaker is most base runners
    • Coin flip


Umpires
 
The league provides paid umpires for all scheduled games Umpires are scheduled by League Umpire Coordinator


Code of Conduct

  • Must be signed by all managers and coaches and returned to league president
  • Must be signed by all players and returned to team manager
  • Must be signed by all player's parents and returned to team manager

All-Stars

  • Issaquah Pony will field one All Star team for each level that Pony sponsors a district tournament
  • Issaquah Pony will pay entry fees for district level only
  • Entry fees and travel expenses past district level will be responsibility of individual teams
  • Players interested in being considered must submit an All Star Availability Form signed by both player and parents
    • Purpose of the written form is to make sure player is interested in potentially participating and will be available for all practices and tournaments
  • Selection of Players
    • There will be no All Star tryouts
    • Selection will be based on season performance
    • Season statistics will be part of the consideration for team selection
    • Issaquah Pony League President will preside over player selection meetings for each level of play
    • Team manager and up to two coaches from each team will attend All Star player selection meeting
    • Manager and coaches will discuss each of the players who filled out an All Star Request
    • President, Managers, and Coaches will select All Star Team roster of at least 12 and not more the 15 players
  • Selection of Manager
    • Selection of the All Star managers will happen at the conclusion of the All Star player selection process
    • Managers and coaches of regular season teams are eligible for consideration
    • If more then one individual identifies themselves as a candidate for the managers position a vote will be taken
  • Selection of Coaches
    • Managers and coaches of regular season teams are eligible for consideration
    • Manager of the All Star teams are responsible for naming their two official coaches
