Board of Directors Duties
The following is the roles and responsibilities of the Lake Sammamish Baseball Organization. We are in need of candidates for the positions below. If you would like to volunteer or suggest a candidate we can talk with, please contact us. We are looking for at least 1 volunteer from each team. Position descriptions are at bottom. Some positions have prerequisites so please read the description for each.

    The President shall:
    1. Preside at all meetings of the Board and the League;
    2. Serve as the Chief Executive Officer of the League;
    3. Represent the League at any meetings of other organizations, including the City Of Issaquah;
    4. Be responsible for registering teams with PONY baseball and any additional coordination with PONY organization;
    5. Perform such other duties as are normally associated with the office of Commissioner.
    The Secretary shall:
    1. Have custody of the Articles, Bylaws, minutes and all other records of the League records;
    2. Keep an accurate record of the meetings and other activities of the League and the Board;
    3. Be responsible for all correspondence on behalf of the League;
    4. Transmit all records and correspondence to any person elected to succeed him/her.
    The Treasurer shall:
    1. Receive and disburse all funds with the approval of the Board;
    2. Keep an accurate account of all funds received and disbursed for the League;
    3. Submit a financial report at all regular meetings and at such other times as may be requested by the Commissioner;
    4. Compile an annual report of League finances;
    5. Transmit all records and correspondence to any person elected to succeed him/he
    The Secretary/Treasurer shall:
    1. Perform the combined duties of the above documented positions of Secretary and Treasurer.
    The Player Agent shall:
    1. Supervise the annual registration of all players, tryout sessions and distribution of League teams;
    2. Assist the Division Presidents with the drafting and assigning of players;
    3. Represent any players and parents in disputes with coaches or other League officials;
    4. Be accessible to players and parents to answer questions and provide information;
    The Tournament Coordinator shall:
    1. Plan & coordinate mid-season and post-season Pony and Colt tournaments with the Board.
    2. Establish a tournament committee to assist with tournament planning, communication with umpire as well as perspective tournament teams, tournament rules, field reservation and game schedule, and tournament the concessions and awards as approved by the Board.
    3. Establish and present tournament plans, budgets and communications to the Board for review and approval prior to committing the League to any financial or field obligations.
    4. Present post tournament report to the Board documenting results of the tournament's) including a financial report.
    Division Presidents shall:
    1. Determine the number of teams for their division;
    2. Determine and assign coaches for the teams in their division;
    3. Assist the Player Agent in assigning players to teams;
    4. Assist the Player Agent in planning and holding tryout sessions (Pony and Colt, as required);
    5. Conduct with the Player Agent and team coaches the final roster placements, whether by preference that can be accommodated, consensus of participants, or draft, as required;
    6. Write rule amendments for their division;
    7. Hold meetings with coaches at appropriate times before and during the season;
    8. Be empowered to suspend any player, coach or parent for one (1) game for conduct considered by President to be detrimental to the League, and recommend further disciplinary action to the Board considered necessary (see Disciplinary Guidelines below);
    9. Participate in the arrangement of tournament teams, if such teams are determined by the Board.
    The League Registrar shall:
    1. Prepare registration forms consistent with Board decisions regarding annual fees;
    2. Coordinate with players and parents the registration and payment of fees either by mail, or in-person at scheduled sign-up sessions at an appropriate public facility;
    3. Provide registration information to the Board regarding registration and payment of players by age for Pony, Colt, and Palomino divisions.
    4. Maintain annual registration records and transmit all records and correspondence to any person elected to succeed him/her in that office.
    The Sponsor Coordinator shall:
    1. Contact potential new sponsors for the League; .Coordinate sponsor assignments with teams;
    2. Distribute sponsor plaques to division presidents or directly to sponsors;
    3. Maintain records of sponsor's name, address, phone numbers, etc.
    4. Keep track of sponsor logos, uniform colors, teams or divisions they sponsored and any other special needs.
    The Umpire Coordinator shall:
    1. Obtain suitable umpires for the League as directed by the Board;
    2. Schedule and hold training sessions for the umpires;
    3. Assign umpires for all League games;
    4. Arrange for paychecks to the umpires;
    5. Consider all complaints relative to umpires and make suitable recommendations to the Board.
    The Field Coordinator shall:
    1. Attend all required city meetings and work to obtain fields as directed by the Board;
    2. Coordinate any required installations of fences or equipment sheds at the fields;
    3. Work with the City of Issaquah to obtain any required lighting for all League games;
    4. Arrange for the field preparation for all League games.
    The Equipment Coordinator shall:
    1. Take an inventory of the equipment during the off -season, clean and prepare it for the new season;
    2. Provide an equipment inventory report to the Board no later than December preceding a new season
    3. Obtain any required new equipment as directed by the Board;
    4. Provide equipment as required for the player tryout sessions;
    5. Fill and distribute equipment bags for each division to each team coach or manager;
    6. Distribute balls as required for all League games to the division presidents;
    7. Collect all equipment from division presidents at the end of the season.
    The Scheduling Coordinator shall:
    1. Write and distribute schedules for all League games as directed by the Board;
    2. Coordinate with the Field Coordinator and scheduling coordinators from neighboring leagues for to determine acceptable inter-lock game day, time, and locations
    The Information Officer shall:
    1. Prepare and distribute all flyers, and memorandums to parents and players regarding League matters including tryout sessions, post-season tournament team information, etc.;
    2. Prepare and maintain a League Web-page consistent with baseball web-pages of other youth leagues;
    3. Maintain game and player statistics on the web-page as directed by the Board.
